We are very proud of this BALI award-winning patient and staff garden which we built for the Huntercombe Hospital on the Binny Estate. Its aim is to give the young patients at the hospital a safe outdoor space in which to rest, play or simply get some fresh air.
It contains a swing seat by Sitting Spiritually, various seating areas, bespoke privacy screening and timber raised beds for growing flowers and vegetables. The garden also features an art studio built by Kevin Clark where patients can enjoy art lessons while being in the garden as well as borders filled with colourful flowers supplied by Binny Plants. A larch boardwalk runs through the garden which is wheelchair friendly and artificial turf makes the garden very low maintenance.
The garden was designed by Carolyn Grohmann of Secret Gardens. An official opening took place in June 2016 attended by the author Ian Rankin. It was wonderful to see how much the garden is appreciated by all those who use it.
